OUR PEOPLE
ROBBIE CURTIS
CO-FOUNDER & ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Robbie is the Artistic Director or Arc Circus, and has worked extensively for over twenty years nationally and internationally, directing, performing, teaching, and choreographing. Robbie has worked for companies including Cirque du Soleil, Circa, Circus Oz, Legs on the Wall, Cirque de Paname, Australian Ballet, Australian Opera, Theatre of Image, Circus Monoxide, Shaun Parker Co and Footnote dance company.
Robbie has directed five works with Arc Circus, that have been performed in six different counties. Robbie’s work has been presented at Major Festivals, Sydney Festival with ‘A Bee Story’ and ‘Living Sculptures: How the birds got their colours’, Auckland Festival, Edinburgh Fringe, Underground Festival, Joondalup Festival and more.
Robbie is internationally recognised for his unique style mixing dance and circus, and he has been an artistic consultant at the National Institute of Circus Arts. Robbie has performed in notable theatres around the world, including Barbican, Sadler's Wells, BAM, Theatre Grec, The Sydney Opera House, and Arts Centre Melbourne, and he has performed at every major Australian arts festival.
NICHOLA STONES
BRAND & CREATIVE CONSULTANT
Nichola (“Nikki”) is a freelance brand strategist and designer based in Abu Dhabi, and has over 15 years’ experience as a branding and design expert. Having worked within both the agency and consulting models she has gained a significant understanding of what it takes to create and deliver business value through design.
LIZZIE MCRAE
CO-FOUNDER & GENERAL MANAGER
Lizzie is the co-creator and General Manager of Arc Circus. Lizzie is also a unique performer and creator performing with Arc. Lizzie has been a key creative in all five of Arc’s shows, and has performed nationally and internationally with the company. Notably with ‘A Bee Story’ which has performed internationally as well as nationally in Australia at major festivals, and touring more broadly. Lizzie’s unique blend of mixing live music, acrobatics and circus particularly in ‘A Bee Story’ and ‘Garden Party’ have been celebrated with five-star reviews, and awards.
She has taught all levels of flute, and also plays piccolo. Lizzie is a juggler, clown, and also serves as General Manager of Arc Circus Co. Lizzie holds both a Bachelors and a Masters degree from the University of Sydney, and she has worked in management all over the world, including Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Myanmar, Indonesia, Japan, the UK, and the USA. She is passionate about entertaining and empowering kids, and in between performing with Arc Circus, she is currently the Executive Director of Iraqi Children Foundation.
MARIA MCRAE
COSTUME DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT
Maria is an educator, curator and costume designer, with more than 40 years of experience. She has worked as a school teacher, English language tutor, community outreach officer, and fundraiser. Maria has developed and produced all the costumes and props for “A Bee Story” and “Living Sculptures: How the birds got their colours”.
